Martin has worked with Capital Cranfield Trustees since 2003. Martin represents Capital Cranfield as chairman of trustees and as a trustee board member to schemes – several with household names – ranging in asset size up to £2bn.

He was formerly Head of UK Fixed Income at UBS Global Asset Management (previously Phillips & Drew). During his 10 years there, his main focus was the investment of pension fund assets. This increasingly encompassed helping trustees face the growing challenges in determining strategic investment direction, and the provision of trustee training.

Martin also worked at the Bank of England for 10 years in a variety of roles, including foreign exchange reserves investment, domestic monetary policy and for a number of years advising the UK Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund in Washington. Prior to joining the Bank, Martin lectured in economic history at Durham University, after completing his doctorate in economics at Oxford.
