Mark joined Capital Cranfield in 2021 after a long career spent in financial services with Nationwide Building Society.

Mark has significant investment expertise both as a Trustee and previously as a pension fund Chief Investment Officer. He has a deep understanding of journey planning, asset and liability management strategies coupled with a keen sense of risk management from his time as a senior executive in the Treasury Division. These roles emphasised the requirement for effective stakeholder management to help build consensus and deliver successful outcomes.

His past experience included establishing and leading Nationwide’s secured funding programmes, its Treasury investment strategy, and previously its social housing lending. In addition, he lead the acquisition of student loan debt, the impletion of offshore investment vehicles and a corporate bond securitisation and originated and structured PFI and commercial lending.

He has a BA in Economics and Modern History from Lancaster University, is an APPT accredited professional trustee, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Banking and a Fellow of the Association of Corporate Treasurers. Outside of work he acts in Murder Mysteries and is a keen board and wargamer.
